The Legend

The Legend Course Map
'The Legend', the first of its kind in Mauritius, designed by South African champion, Hugh Baiocchi, is the crowning achievement of Constance Belle Mare Plage The Resort, located along one of the most superb beaches on the island. Each of the 18 holes has distinctive characteristics. Superb fairways are laid in the heart of an indigenous forest, culminating in brand new greens, built to USPGA specifications. In our constant effort to provide the perfect golfing location, all 18 greens have been rebuilt using Tif Dwarf grasses to ensure a perfect surface. Time has also been taken to enhance the natural beauty of a site originally used to breed deer. Teeing off from the 17th hole (par 3) is a feast for the eyes and a test for the nerves.
The Links Golf

The Links Course map
The second Belle Mare Plage The Resort Championship Golf Course, designed by Rodney Wright and Peter Allis opened in November 2002. This 18-hole Links course was conceived as a result of the success and demands encountered by Hotels Constance's first course, 'The Legend'. Sitting beneath the clubhouse which faces the setting sun, the course measures 5,942 m and has a par of 71. Equipped with a practice fairway, this 18-hole course is set in a location which seems to have been naturally created for the purpose.
Mauritius Open
The most prestigious competition in Mauritius
Every year, since 1994, the Mauritius Open welcomes 70 professionals and more than 150 amateurs from 22 countries. The Mauritius Open establishes the recognition of international golf in Mauritius. Under the patronage of the PGA of Africa, with referees provided by the international PGA, the Mauritius Open establishes the recognition of a real golfing range in Mauritius.
The Mauritius Open was created in 1994 with the opening of the first championship golf course at Belle Mare Plage The Resort. It has grown from an event with 50 professionals and 70 amateurs with local newspaper interest, to 70 professionals, 144 amateurs, a prize fund of €40,000 and media coverage to 373 million people in 35 countries.
The event has been based on the legendary Mauritius hospitality. The idea was to have top class professionals enjoying a winter break in a totally relaxed atmosphere. As word spread of the quality both of the event and of the host resort it has become a much sought after invitation amongst many of Europe's finest players.
