Deep Blue Waters

Ever thought about close encounters with the dolphins in the ocean… swimming by their side in blue waters?

Ever thought about paddling out at sunrise or sunset … getting a real feel of freedom?

Mauritius is not all about beaches and fine hotels. There are so many thrilling experiences to try in summer and winter. Over the past two decades, there’s been a growing number of water activities ranging from parasailing to undersea walk. These activities might sound too adventurous for some, but you would love the peaceful feeling once you are hanging out there being pulled by a boat or when you are swimming freely alongside friendly dolphins in the wild. It’s a different way to discover Mauritius Island. For the less adventurous and more careful traveller, a glass-bottom boat trip can be a memorable experience in one of the marine reserves. Fish abounds in the Mauritian seas and the amazing variety includes Damsels, Dascyllus, Parrot Fish, Porcupine Fish, Catfish and others.

Windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, water skiing, paddle boarding … you name it! The wind conditions allow for great moments amidst waves and great sights and above all, trained coaches.

Deep sea fishing trips and competitions are organised across the island for the advanced fishermen and for an authentic experience, you might want to spend the day with a local fisherman and eat the catch of the day.

The island and the ocean admittedly have so much to offer, and for another level of fun, rafting is also possible in the rapids…for deep green waters experience.

In a general manner, the coastal ecosystem on island states has undergone degradation lately and it’s a laborious task to get all the islanders involved in a more sustainable lifestyle. A need for sensitisation is felt at all levels to hinder further depletion. Locally, measures have been taken ( but still need to be observed ) regarding boats taking visitors out at sea for dolphin watch. Every step maters. Let’s go green and…

…Come and join the fun!
